ABOUT

SACRED RUN is a song and music picture from the Sundance TV film HIDDEN MEDICINE. When a young girl has a dream, a sacred runner from Onondaga Nation is sent to the United Nations to carry the warnings of his spiritual leaders and a way of life, a way to live in peace.

HIDDEN MEDICINE premiered at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival and broadcast on Sundance TV with a call to action to support Native Peoples Sacred Sites, the Act to Save America’s Forests, and the National Forest Protection and Restoration Act.

Written and performed by Robby Romero, SACRED RUN was recorded at Shelter Island Sound in New York City and produced and mixed by Grammy-winner Steve Addabbo (Bob Dylan, Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin). The Red Thunder lineup includes musicians Clayson Benally, Klee Benally, Jeneda Benally, Robert Tree Cody, and Grammy-winner Lisa Fisher, with a special appearance by Jones Benally (Dené Spiritual Leader).

Produced by Roland Joffé (The Killing Fields, The Mission, Fat Man And Little Boy) and Directed by Robby Romero, SACRED RUN was filmed in Onondaga Nation Territory, New York City, and in the Redwood Forest. SACRED RUN was produced in association with the Onondaga Nation, Lightmotive, and Eagle Thunder Pictures.

The song and the music picture are available on our Village Market. 100% of profits support the work of Native Children’s Survival.

KEEPING WITH TRADITION in the WORLD TODAY Red Thunder’s excellent CD, Hidden Medicine which blends first nation tradition with contemporary style, provides insight into customs and traditions which have long been misunderstood and misrepresented.
