THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING

Springtime along the Rio Grande, Taos, New Mexico: Robby Romero Photography

When day and night are about the same, we have an equinox! Today, at 10:46 a.m. EDT, the 2026 spring equinox is happening in the Northern Hemisphere. But for our relatives in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s autumn!

As spring arrives, a new beginning emerges, heralding a time of birth and renewal. It is an opportune moment to embark on a journey of enlightenment and self-improvement, shedding the burdens that have held us back. While climate change has introduced uncertainties, affecting temperatures, attitudes, and the natural order, spring remains a time to reaffirm our commitment to what truly matters. These include family, community, and a social commitment to peace, love, happiness, and equality. The innate capacity for nurturing resides within our collective DNA, descended from our ancestors.

Many blessings on this beautiful first day of spring!
