United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues
Twenty-Third Session: 15-26 April 2024

Indigenous Peoples from around the world will convene at the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII), United Nations Headquarters in New York, from 15 to 26 April 2024 to educate, advocate, and promote the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The Permanent Forum is one of three UN bodies mandated to deal specifically with the issues Indigenous Peoples face, inclusive of (economic and social developmentculturethe environmenteducationhealth, and human rights); the other UN bodies are the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues was established on 28 July 2000.  Its first session was held from 12 to 24 May 2002. The twenty-third session aims to enhance the voices of Indigenous youth and our right to self-determination in the context of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
