The 2025 UN Ocean Conference will be co-hosted by France and Costa Rica and held in Nice, France, from 9 to 13, June 2025.
The Conference focuses on accelerating ocean conservation and the sustainable use of the ocean. It aims to identify innovative strategies for SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and foster partnerships.
The Conference will involve stakeholders to assess challenges and opportunities for implementing Goal 14, including Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
The United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC) of 2025 will draw upon the knowledge gained from the previous UNOCs held in 2017 in New York, hosted by Sweden and Fiji, and in 2022 in Lisbon, hosted by Portugal and Kenya, and hopefully adhere to the warnings of our ancestors and the wisdom and stewardship of Indigenous Peoples.
