Winter Solstice

Taos Sacred Mountain / Robby Romero Photography

As the winter solstice new moon graces us, peace prevails, if we choose to embrace it.

On Turtle Island, the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, will occur on December 21, 2025, at 8:03 a.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST). The December 20th new moon will align with the Winter Solstice, signifying the longest night of the year for the Northern Hemisphere and the final meteor shower of 2025.

During these colder moons, many relatives hibernate, enjoying Mother Earth’s peaceful tranquility. Ceremonies, songs, and dances are filled with prayers of love, hope, and a deep connection to the natural world and the sacredness of life.

Be with us, Ahô
