WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

If human beings cease to exist Mother Earth, Father Sky, and all our relations would flourish… If all our relations cease to exist human beings would die of a great loneliness of spirit…
— #ONLYONEMOTHEREARTH

June 5th marks World Environment Day, one of the most significant international events dedicated to the environment. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually since 1973, it has become one of the most important global platforms for environmental outreach, with millions participating worldwide to help protect Mother Earth.

In 1972, the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment began in Stockholm with the theme "Only One Earth." While Indigenous Peoples had long been issuing warnings to the international community, this conference played a significant role in promoting sustainable development worldwide and paved the way for the establishment of World Environment Day.

This year's World Environment Day will highlight solutions to plastic pollution. Join the global effort to #BeatPlasticPollution World Environment Day 5 June 2023
